This vice president at Xaerus Performance Fluids discusses global compressor OEMs and lubricant technology.

STLE member Sean O’Malley has spent the last 30 years working with global OEMs and specialty lubricant customers. O’Malley graduated from the University of Dayton with an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering and a master’s degree in polymer science from Central Michigan University. His master’s thesis focused on the impact of synthetic lubricant PAG structure on propane solubility. O’Malley started his career formulating lubricants for CPI Engineering in Midland, Mich., before moving into applications engineer, product manager and business manager positions. Later, he became director of OEM sales where he managed a team working closely with global compressor OEMs developing their lubricant programs. In 2010, O’Malley was a founding member of Xaerus Performance Fluids in Midland, Mich., where he has spent the last 12 years formulating, marketing and servicing a complete compressor and specialty synthetic lubricant product line. Responsibilities have included developing a global marketing strategy, supply chain and distribution network for Xaerus products in Asia, North America, South America and the Middle East. His current position is vice president of global sales and marketing.
